Narrator Sherri Berger creates a down-home folksy atmosphere with her warm and winsome voice. She depicts seemingly effortlessly the personalities of three matronly sisters, Alice, Louise, and Jane. The setting is Acorn Hill, Pennsylvania. The sisters inherit their childhood home, a Victorian mansion, when their father dies. Their desire to turn it into a bed and breakfast becomes a real challenge with many difficulties. Though somewhat slow paced, the story brings one back to simpler times in a quaint village. With her easy and graceful style, Sherri Berger is just the person to narrate this charming story. N.L. (c) AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine
