For fans of Rachel Hawkins and Sian Gilbert with a salacious reality show edge following sex beautiful contestants, one desert island, and one suspicious death streamed live to millions.

No murder has ever had more witnesses...

Six people land on a desert island ready to make their reality show debut. The contestants are suitably glamorous and dramatic – and they're also hungry to prove themselves. The stakes are high and with millions of viewers watching, losing is not an option. But three weeks and eighteen episodes later, five of the six contestants sit in a Portuguese police station, and none of them are winners.

Because twelve million people were watching when Rhys Sutton died on camera, and someone must pay for the crime.

The best friend, the rival, the girlfriend, the lover, and the sworn enemy are left standing. And of course, no-one is talking. But how do you keep secrets when the world has been watching? Especially when, just a day before his murder, Rhys was the most hated man on television.

"A delicious, murderous thriller that feels like you're watching a live episode of reality TV unfold in your living room. Fast-paced and addicting." — Lucinda Berry, bestselling author of If You Tell a Lie

Picture this: Six strong personalities, all with something to prove, are stranded on a fabulous island to compete on a reality TV show. They are being constantly filmed, drinking heavily, hooking up here and there, and bickering all the time. Then one of them dies. Or were they murdered? YA author (The End Crowns All) Fitzgerald explores the possibilities in her adult thriller debut, which is part a recap of each "episode" of the show, part social media reaction, and part police investigation after the fact. This creates unevenly developed chapters, with the spotlight staying on the events of the island. The beautiful contestants are fun to hate, with their scheming ways and unapologetic preening for the best angles and most camera time. The different ways these contestants, most of whom identify as queer, hook up or fall into relationships with one another are mostly closed-door but feel true to love on a reality show. VERDICT Despite an uneven story, Fitzgerald's thrilling "whydunit" will keep readers focused on the lights and drama of the reality show, while they try to figure out what really happened when things went deadly.--Sarah Sullivan

The six glamorous contestants who gather on a desert island for the new reality show, Iconic, are already rich, famous, and super successful, but it's not enough, as each one competes fiercely for the prize money and notoriety. The challenges, contests, betrayals, and alliances follow a typical reality-show agenda until, in a dark turn, one of the contestants dies on camera. Millions of viewers translate to millions of witnesses, so even though it appears to be an accident, the police are pressured to investigate. In this debut adult thriller from Fitzgerald, the author of YA fantasy novel Girl, Goddess, Queen (2023), readers try to put the pieces together in chapters that present each of the show's episodes, the resulting social media reactions, and an abundance of clues to ponder. There's also the ongoing police investigation, which itself takes on some of the qualities of a reality show. Recommend this one to fans of Rachel Hawkins and Lisa Jackson.
