EDITOR’S PICK • Blancpain’s Ladybird was launched in 1956 under Betty Fiechter, who joined the workshop in Villeret as a 16-year-old apprentice and went on to own and run the maison. She was the first woman to lead a Swiss watch manufacture, decades before Swiss women could vote. The Lady B marks the collection’s 70th anniversary. It is a 19mm-diameter spherical segment, 13.2mm thick, with no lugs, with a strap—calf leather, available in a range of colours—passing through a 10mm by 1.6mm slot in the case. Inside is the automatic calibre 615, 15.7mm across—and so, larger than the original 11.85mm Ladybird movement—with 180 components, a silicon balance spring and a 38-hour power reserve. It comes in steel or 18-karat red gold.
